A500 Hollow Structural Steel (HSS) Tubing
By far, A500 is the leading HSS tube grade. This specification covers general structural applications, building structures, and bridge supports (bolted, welded, or riveted). Consisting of cold-formed carbon steel, A500 structural tubing offers excellent strength-to-weight ratio, surface quality, durability, and impact resistance.
Readily available sizes may include:
- Round: Up to 6-inch diameter
- Square: Up to 16 inches by 16 inches (max 22 inches for specialized applications)
- Rectangular: Up to 20 inches by 12 inches
The tensile strength for A500 grade C is 62ksi, and the yield strength is 50ksi. Our A500B high-strength low-alloy steel tubing has a minimum tensile strength of 65ksi. We offer A500 structural tubing in welded and seamless shapes.
ASTM A513 Mechanical Tubing
Mechanical tubing is used extensively in hydraulic systems, motorcycle and automotive parts, handrails and industrial safety systems, and many consumer products. As-is welded tubing is common in metal frames and industrial repairs, while Drawn Over Mandrel tubing is a better fit for pressurized applications.
