Purlin Bearing Rib (PBR) Panels
When your metal building project demands a panel that performs on the roof and the wall, the PBR panel delivers. Engineered with a trapezoidal rib profile and a purlin bearing leg for superior structural contact, PBR panels from Triple-S Steel® are built to handle demanding commercial, agricultural, and industrial applications. Whether you are enclosing a new warehouse or re-roofing an existing structure, our PBR panels provide the strength, weather resistance, and long-term value your project requires.
Why Choose PBR Panels
The purlin bearing rib design sets this panel apart from standard corrugated sheeting. A flat area at the base of each rib sits flush against purlins and girts, creating a wider bearing surface that improves fastener pull-out resistance and reduces panel distortion over time. That structural advantage translates to fewer callbacks, tighter seals, and a finished building that holds up in high-wind and heavy-rain environments.
Our PBR panels are manufactured from Galvanized or Galvalume sheet metal with a factory-applied paint finish that can carry a 40-year warranty. For budget-conscious projects, secondary non-warranty panels are also available. Ask your salesperson about the availability of secondary panels.

PBR Panel Roofing Applications
A reliable roof starts with the right panel. PBR panel roofing is a go-to choice for metal buildings because the purlin-bearing leg locks securely to the roof purlins, reducing uplift risk in severe weather. The 1 1/4" rib height promotes efficient water drainage, while the overlapping side-lap design prevents moisture infiltration at panel joints.
For roofing installations, pair your PBR panels with our complete line of metal building components, including ridge caps, eave trim, valley trim, and closure strips designed specifically for the R-panel profile. Polycarbonate skylights are also available in 12-foot lengths with 36" coverage to match PBR panel spacing, offered in White, Clear, and Soft White.
PBR Panel Siding Applications
PBR panel siding gives your structure a clean, uniform appearance while providing dependable protection against wind-driven rain, UV exposure, and impact. The consistent rib pattern creates defined shadow lines on wall applications, delivering an appealing finished look for commercial storefronts, agricultural buildings, and industrial facilities alike.
When installing PBR panels as wall cladding, our full selection of trim components ensures a professional finish. Sculptured corners, door jamb trim, door head trim, base guards, rat guards, and J-trim are all available for the R-panel profile and can be ordered in matching colors. All components are made to order, with most lead times at 2 to 3 days.
Compatible Accessories and Fasteners
Completing your PBR panel installation requires the right fasteners and accessories. Triple-S Steel® stocks Tek screws, Woodgrip screws, Lap-Tek screws, and Stitch screws in color-matched options to complement your panel selection. Closure strips, tape seal, pipe flashing, and vented outside closures are also in stock and ready to ship.
Need structural support for your project? Our C-purlins and Z-purlins are available in 14-gauge red primed steel in multiple sizes, along with base angles, eave struts, and steel open-face channels.
Custom Lengths and Ordering
Stock sizes are available for quick turnaround, but many of our customers benefit from ordering PBR panels in custom lengths up to 35 feet. Custom cutting reduces waste on the jobsite, speeds up installation, and eliminates unnecessary panel overlap on longer runs. Our team can help you calculate the most efficient panel lengths for your specific project dimensions.

FAQs
PBR stands for Purlin Bearing Rib. The name refers to the flat bearing leg at the base of each rib that sits flush against purlins and girts, creating a wider contact surface than standard corrugated panels. This design improves fastener holding strength and overall panel stability.
Yes. PBR panels are versatile enough to serve as both roofing and wall cladding on metal buildings. The same panel profile works in either orientation, and Triple-S Steel® carries a full line of matching trim components for roof and wall applications, including eave trim, ridge caps, corner trim, and base guards.
