Most off-the-shelf caps are built to a single dimension and a single profile, which leaves builders cutting, lapping, and improvising at the one spot on the roof that cannot afford a gap. We approach metal ridge trim differently. Our ridge caps are made to order for R and Max metal roofing panels, produced in profiles and colors that match the panels already on your building, so the cap sits flat against the rib pattern rather than fighting it.

Triple-S Steel® stocks the patterns most builders ask for and fabricates the rest. Each cap is formed for use with R Panel and Max Panel profiles and is available in lengths up to 12 feet, with longer ridge runs handled by lapping pieces along the peak. Roof panel ridge caps fall into three working types:

The flat ridge cap is the standard closeout for typical residential and light commercial pitches. The commercial flat ridge cap carries wider 10-inch legs for larger spans and steeper coverage, and the stepped ridge cap with hems adds a folded edge that locks moisture out and stiffens the cap for high-exposure roofs. All three install over the top course of your roof panels and pair with foam or vented closure strips to seal the rib voids underneath.

A ridge cap is the last line of defense against wind-driven rain at the peak, so the detail matters. Ridge cap flashing seals the joint where the two roof planes meet and directs water back onto the panel surface rather than into the rib cavities. Our hemmed and flat profiles are designed to work with closure strips and, where ventilation is required, with a continuous ridge vent so the ridge can breathe without letting weather in. The result is a peak that sheds water, resists uplift, and matches the rest of the roof instead of standing out.

Stock dimensions cover many jobs, but the buildings that benefit most from working with Triple-S Steel® are the ones with specific requirements: an unusual pitch, a non-standard panel profile, a long ridge run, or a color that has to match existing material. Our metal ridge trim is made to order, with most lead times at just 2 to 3 days, so a custom cap does not mean a custom wait. We form ridge trim from galvanized and Galvalume® coil with factory-applied paint finishes that can carry up to a 40-year warranty, and we color-match caps to the Max Rib and PBR roofing panels on your project for a consistent, finished appearance.

Do metal ridge caps work with a ridge vent?

Yes. Ridge caps are designed to cover and conceal a continuous ridge vent at the peak. When ventilation is required, the cap installs over the vent and closure strips so the ridge can breathe while still keeping wind-driven rain out. Tell us if your roof is vented, and we will recommend the right cap and closure combination.

What paint finishes and warranties are available on ridge trim?

Painted ridge trim is formed from galvanized or Galvalume® coil with a factory-applied finish that can carry up to a 40-year paint warranty, and bare galvanized and Galvalume® options are also available. Caps are color-matched to our standard panel color chart, so the ridge blends with the rest of the roof.

How do I measure for ridge caps?

Measure the total length of the ridge line and add for overlap where pieces lap together on runs longer than a single cap. Commercial and stepped caps are sold by the foot, so a Triple-S Steel® specialist can convert your ridge length into the right quantity once we know your panel profile and pitch.
