Diamond Floor Plate

Hot-rolled steel floor plate, also called a diamond floor plate, is a thick sheet of metal typically used in flooring because of its ability to support high capacities and because of its non-slip textured side. To create a hot-rolled floor plate, manufacturers heat the steel to a high temperature and pass it through rollers to create a more workable metal.

Uses of Hot Rolled Steel Floor Plate

At Triple-S Steel^®, our diamond floor plates meet the ASTM A569 standard, including a tear-shaped pattern on one side and a smooth surface on the other. The pattern creates a non-slip surface, while the hot-rolling process reduces the risk of a slick, dangerous walkway by creating a rougher surface and edge to the material. Thicknesses range from 14 GA to 1 inch.

Diamond plates are often used for non-slip surfaces, such as walkways, elevator or freezer flooring, and catwalks. Typically, industries such as metalworking and automotive industries utilize steel floor plates for high-traffic areas.

Benefits of Hot Rolled Steel Floor Plate

During the hot-rolling process, steel floor plates become more durable and resistant to wear and tear while compromising their load-bearing capacity.

Floor plating is wear-resistant, which means it can be used in applications where abrasive materials may have to be slid over it regularly. Diamond floor plating is a solution in applications where staff and guests need protection from slip-and-falls.
